The Next Chapter for Red Jacket Books

I want to begin by thanking everyone that has supported us over the last three years. We set up shop in a town that was thankful to have a bookstore in the midst of a global pandemic. In a time and place where everyone was forced to remain isolated, we were able to supply the people with little pocketable adventures to go on, and even win Best Book Store on Long Island twice! We feel lucky to have been able to bring that to the people of Westhampton Beach and the surrounding areas.

Unfortunately, due to a number a reasons, both personal and financial, we will no longer be able to keep our doors open. We will not be renewing our lease for next year, and we will be closing our shop at 77 Main Street sometime this November. This decision was not easy to make, but it was necessary. We wish we could compete with certain online retailers, or certain bookselling giants that happen to move in just 20 minutes north of the store. We do hope you understand our tough choice.

What now?

We are still here. Our hours will be posted weekly on redjacketbooks.com, and we will be selling all stock at a discounted price. Keep an eye on our newsletter and instagram page for updates on that.

You can still shop indie by using the link above to shop on our Bookshop.org and Libro.fm websites for physical books and audiobooks respectively. We also are keeping a few select items available on our website, including Field Notes Brand products. We are keeping our options open for the future, and are looking to open in the form of a seasonal pop-up shop in WHB if possible. Please don't hesitate to use our contact form if you have any way to help us in this form.

If you have a gift card to Red Jacket Books, fret not. Though it will not work on the Bookshop.org site, we are still able to order and ship directly to you. Please use our contact form to order books, and we will invoice you, which will give you the opportunity to use your gift card balance.

The writing competitions and the White Whale Book Club will live on. We will continue to host our writing competitions and encourage you to enter them! We also had so much fun doing our White Whale Book Club on our Facebook group last Winter, and are looking forward to the next one.
